West Siberian Husky - one of the most popular and common breeds of hunting dogs in Russian country, one of the few native (indigenous), the Russian breeds, them pride. Its popularity is due not only functional and natural beauty, but also excellent working qualities, versatility and remarkable endurance and ability to adapt to a variety of natural conditions and conditions of detention.
Widespread belief that these northern dogs bad feeling in an urban environment or in the heat, is not true. Correctly, in our opinion, to consider this breed adapted to extreme continental climate. Thick and dense undercoat "wolf" type Husky allows easy transfer of a variety of climatic and weather conditions. Characteristically, husky dogs of this type with a thick and dense undercoat are also found in tropical regions of Central and Middle Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia), and even near the equator in Africa.
Now the West Siberian huskies can be found almost anywhere. Widespread they are in Europe and the Americas. The closest is the breed and to the original "wolf" type, and probably less domesticated (domesticated). In any case, the symptoms associated with long-term domestication: the deformation of the skull and skeleton, reducing the size of the head and brain, reduction of teeth, loss of certain "wild" qualities, including the sense of smell - a husky almost not expressed. This was confirmed by studies Korytin S. (1968), noted the development of intuition in the West Siberian huskies, and still connected to its origins with indigenous dogs, fishing areas, compared with other breeds of huskies and other specialized breeds of dogs. Until now, this breed is maintained and the diversity of morphotypes and the considerable potential of the gene pool.
Although the West Siberian huskies are now widespread in all natural areas, their origin, as well as other breeds huskies, no doubt due to the boreal regions of northern Russia, where the dog has long accompanied the indigenous people - hunters, herdsmen, nomads often. This is evidenced primarily a variety of different offspring (more correctly, in my opinion, to call them ecotypes, morphotypes or ethnographically-territorial types) huskies, especially in the last century, when the delivery of other dogs to the indigenous people was limited and cross-breeding with local dogs brought in almost was not. However, even now, somewhere in Siberia preserved native "nest" of indigenous dogs.
